Thermo-Scan MiniModul CAN
  • Rugged, extremely compact module for temperature measurement

  • Dimensions: approx. 4.72 x 1.18 x 1.97 inch

  • Works inside engine compartment (IP67):
Reduced cost and effort of cabling

  • Operating temperature: -40 °C to +125 °C
  • High standard on measurement data acquisition quality, including future demands (e.g. 42V battery)

  • For Calibration and Data Acquisition systems from ATI, dSPACE, ETAS (INCA), IAV, National Instruments, Vector, CSM, various in-house systems e.g. of Saab/GM, Volvo ...

  • Qualified for chain-linking up to 20 modules

  • Excellent price/performance ratio
DESCRIPTION:

As communication interface we use the CAN bus. This enables universal use in a multiplicity of measurement systems and applications, supported from our universal and easy to use Configuration Software.

The advantages are obvious:

The modules can be placed close to the sensors, which results in considerable reduction of cabling cost and time savings.

Thick cables from the engine compartment to the passenger area are no more necessary. Only one single thin cable for CAN-Bus and power is sufficient!

Thermo-Scan MiniModul CAN provides 8 inputs for connection of NiCr-Ni thermocouples (type K). Due to digital alignment and linearization with on-line cold junction compensation, it achieves a typical measuring accuracy of ±1 °C throughout the entire measuring range from -100 °C to +1372 °C (-148 °F to +2501 °F). In addition:

  • A broken sensor connection is automatically recognized.
  • Isolated and non-isolated thermocouples can be used, independent of the on board power supply system (12V, 24V, 42V).
  • The sampling rate is selectable from 1Hz to 10 Hz.

Configuration is done via CAN bus with the consistent CSM Config Tool for all xx-Scan measurement modules. For autostart-capability all settings are stored in the device and passed to an configuration file, which is compatible with the CANdb format from Vector.

For use in passenger areas a version with -40 °C to +85 °C (-40 °F to +185 °F) operating temperature is available. As well as mechanical accessories, which easily enables to arrange several modules in a pile.

SOFTWARE INTERFACE

The measurement values from Thermo-Scan MiniModul are directly available in degree Celsius. Data is sent free running, so practically any CAN bus data acquisition HW & SW can be used:
  • INCA from ETAS
  • CalDesk from dSPACE
  • CANape from Vector
  • Vision from ATI
  • DIAdem, LabVIEW from National Instruments...

The Thermo-Scan MiniModul CAN is also well suitable as a measurement module for stand alone data acquisition, particularly with our UniCAN data loggers.
